Magnetization reversal of the domain structure in the anti-perovskite nitride Co3FeN investigated by high-resolution X-ray microscopy
2016
We performed X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) photoemission electron microscopy imaging to reveal the magnetic domain structure of anti-perovskite nitride Co3FeN exhibiting a negative spin polarization. In square and disc patterns, we systematically and quantitatively determined the statistics of the stable states as a function of geometry. By direct imaging during the application of a magnetic field, we revealed the magnetic reversal process in a spatially resolved manner. We compared the hysteresis on the continuous area and the square patterns from the magnetic field-dependent XMCD ratio, which can be explained as resulting from the effect of the shape anisotropy, present in nano…
Dynamic Magnetic and Optical Insight into a High Performance Pentagonal Bipyramidal Dy(III) Single-Ion Magnet
2017
The pentagonal bipyramidal single-ion magnets (SIMs) are among the most attractive prototypes of high-performance single-molecule magnets (SMMs). Here, a fluorescence-active phosphine oxide ligand CyPh2PO (=cyclohexyl(diphenyl)phosphine oxide) was introduced into [Dy(CyPh2PO)2(H2O)5]Br3⋅2 (CyPh2PO)⋅EtOH⋅3 H2O, and combined dynamic magnetic measurement, optical characterization, ab initio calculation, and magneto-optical correlation of this high-performance pseudo-D5h DyIII SIM with large Ueff (508(2) K) and high magnetic hysteresis temperature (19 K) were performed. This work provides a deeper insight into the rational design of promising molecular magnets.
Magnetic and structural study of (Fe1−Co )62 Nb8B30 bulk amorphous alloys
2004
Abstract The electric and magnetic properties of rapidly quenched (Fe 1− x Co x ) 62 Nb 8 B 30 bulk metallic glasses were studied with x =0, 0.33 and 0.50. The Curie temperature in the amorphous state was found to be about 245 °C for the Co-free alloy, 290 °C for x =0.33 and 201 °C for x =0.50, while the crystallization temperature is varying within 15° only around 600 °C. The change in T C correlates with the change in Mossbauer parameters. An interesting flattening effect of annealing on the hysteresis loop was observed which increases with the Co content. The resistivity could not be improved above 152 μΩ cm, which limits the high frequency applications of these alloys.
Identification of the Parameters of Reduced Vector Preisach Model by Neural Networks
2008
This paper presents a methodology for identifying reduced vector Preisach model parameters by using neural networks. The neural network used is a multiplayer perceptron trained with the Levenberg-Marquadt training algorithm. The network is trained by some hysteresis data, which are generated by using reduced vector Preisach model with preassigned parameters. It is shown how a properly trained network is able to find the parameters needed to best fit a magnetization hysteresis curve.
Magnetic LB films based upon polyoxometalate clusters and single molecule nanomagnets
1999
Abstract By using the adsorption properties of polyoxometalates such as the ferromagnetic cluster [Co 4 (H 2 O) 2 (PW 9 O 34 ] 10− ) along a positively charged monolayer, we have prepared well organized monolayers of the magnetic polyanions. A similar procedure allowed us to obtain Langmuir-Blodgett films (LB films) based on Mn 12 clusters which show a marked hysteresis
Surface hysteresis curves of Fe(110) and Fe(100) crystals in ultrahigh vacuum — evidence of adsorbate influences
1992
Abstract We have investigated hysteresis curves of silicon-stabilized Fe(100) and Fe(110) crystals using Polarized Secondary Electron Emission (PSEE) for surface magnetization processes and Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect (MOKE) for bulk hysteresis curves. In particular, the influence of adsorbates (oxygen and sulphur) and surface roughness on the magnetization reversal has been studied. For surface hysteresis curves we found adsorbate-induced reductions of coercive force of up to 50%; the bulk hysteresis curves showed significantly smaller deviations. Similar changes were caused by surface disorder on an atomic scale induced by ion bombardment. The results agree qualitatively with a previous e…
Properties of Co/sub 2/YZ Heusler compounds
2005
Heusler compounds of Co/sub 2/XY composition (Co/sub 2/Cr/sub 0.6/Fe/sub 0.4/Al, Co/sub 2/FeSi) offer a variety of half-metallic ferromagnetic materials. These were prepared by arc melting and comprehensively characterized by means of X-ray diffraction ( XRD), Mossbauer spectroscopy, magnetic X-ray circular dichroism spectroscopy (MXCD), superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometry, electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA), extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) depth profiling. Structural disorder phenomena, magnetic hysteresis, magnetic moments, magnetic transition temperatures and Curie temperature were obtaine…
Temperature and pressure effects on the spin state of ferric ions in the [Fe(sal2-trien)][Ni(dmit)2] spin crossover complex
2008
Abstract Thermal and pressure effects have been investigated on the [Fe(sal 2 -trien)][Ni(dmit) 2 ] spin crossover complex by means of Mossbauer spectroscopic, calorimetric, X-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The complex displays a complete thermal spin transition between the S = 5 2 and S = 1 2 spin states of Fe III near 245 K with a hysteresis loop of ca. 30 K. This transition is characterised by a change of the enthalpy, Δ H HL =7 kJ/mol, entropy, Δ S HL =29 J/Kmol, and the unit cell volume, Δ V HL =15.4 A 3 . Under hydrostatic pressures up to 5.7 kbar the thermal transition shifts to higher temperatures by ca. 16 K/kbar. Interestingly, at a low applied pressure …
GA-based Off-Line Parameter Estimation of the Induction Motor Model Including Magnetic Saturation and Iron Losses
2020
This paper, starting from recent papers in the scientific literature dealing with Rotating Induction Motor (RIM) dynamic modelling, as a first step, improves its space-vector dynamic model, including both the magnetic saturation and iron losses; The main original aspects of the proposed model are the following: 1) the magnetic saturation of the iron core has been described on the basis of both current versus flux and flux versus current functions, 3) it includes the iron losses, separating them in hysteresis and eddy current ones, 4) it includes the effect of the load on the magnetic saturation. Afterwards, it proposes an off-line technique for the estimation of electrical parameters of thi…
Tunable crossover between one- and three-dimensional magnetic dynamics inCoIIsingle-chain magnets organized by halogen bonding
2016
Low-temperature magnetometry, ac susceptibility, and calorimetry have been employed to study Co-based single-chain magnets (SCMs) organized through halogen bonding. Magnetic hysteresis and maxima in the dc and ac susceptibilities, respectively, confirm the SCM behavior of the system. Several characteristic magnetic relaxation regimes are observed at different temperatures, which can be associated with both intra- and interchain exchange interactions. Remarkably, tweaking the rate at which an external magnetic field is swept along the axis of the chains enables a controlled transition between the one- and three-dimensional dynamics. Experiments on an isostructural Co-based SCM system crystal…
